NEWCASTLE are at the centre of a £260million takeover battle between TWO of Asia’s richest companies.

Mike Ashley is in talks with Anil Ambani, the sixth richest man in the world!!! and head of Reliance Communications, (India’s biggest telecoms company).

But Singapore-based global investment company Profitable Group — who include former England star Steve McMahon as a director — also want to buy Ashley out.

Both Reliance and Profitable are ready to pay £260m to own the Magpies outright and are determined to spend more than £100m on transfers to bolster the team.

They ain't gonna be soon enough for this transfer window though

Ashley bought Newcastle in July 2007 for £130m and pumped in another £80m to wipe out the debts. So a £260 Million pound sale will give him a £50 Million Pound return! Can't be bad for a years work!!! Who said money comes to money...? Its right who ever said it!!!

Can't the Government bale them out, like they did with the last lot of Geordies?

Or why not merge with Sunderland?
