13 amp plug on a gift?

Had it had been something like a hair dryer, then not so bad, but a Fruit Dryer runs for such a long time. The plug is not really the problem, the problem is if the manufacturer fits that plug, what is the rest like, maybe run it outside next to a pond? Specially since I have no smoke alarm in kitchen.
