1st Feb 25% tariff on Mexico + Canada, 10% on China

Nobody is shouting disaster.

They are saying he has lost, or backed down on every 1 so far though.

Increased prices (likely to affect much of the world) and isolationism and watching China pick up the pieces around the world doesn't sound like positives for America and/or the rest of the world
There is no doubt he seems to favour isolationism.

My reference is wider i.e. time will tell if Trump's term in office will overall be positive or negative for Americans and the wider world.

The usual suspects on here who already shout DISASTER have no more of a crystal ball than the rest of us.
It’s not guesswork, though.

It’s based on his policies which do not benefit ordinary American citizens.

It is not a "crystal ball" though, is it?

It is a widely held opinion of many people well-qualified to hold one, based on knowledge of previous such courses of action.

So, Trump has got less troops than last time, and the same number as Biden. Yea, what a win...

"In 2019, Mexico sent 15,000 troops to the border to halt US-bound migration, external, following pressure from Trump during his first term in office.

There was also a deployment of 10,000 Mexican troops at the border agreed under President Biden in 2021 in an effort to stem migration."

If America is so great how come we do 3x more trade with the EU
why don't you buy some nice Euro ETFs? With a lot of work, you might be able to find one that performs half as well as your averagely performing S&P tracker.

But the serious answer is that America trades globally and much of the value is off the books from a global trade point of view.

Nobody knows whether these are additional troops or really what they will be doing. It does sound like it has all been made deliberately vague to give both sides a way of climbing down and saving face.

almost like it was a plan. Storm before calm.

Increased border security and reduced illegal migrant and drug flows. Trump hasn't cancelled tariffs, he's postponed them by a month pending negotiations.

Negotiations about what?
