2 way switch to one way switch conversion

I want to convert a light with built in PIR (red, blue, yellow, earth) back to a "normal" light and switch, so I just left the yellow cable disconnected, but the light is on permanently now. I guess I must alter the switch too? Can anyone help please?

Was it possible to override the PIR using the switch before?
The switch live might be on the yellow, if you swop the red for the yellow wires it may work. Do not just leave any wires unconnected floating about in the fitting, place it in a piece of terminal block and secure it out of the way, making sure it doesn't get warm.

Yes, I could switch the light on/off as per a normal lightswitch.

try leaving the red disconnected and using the yellow for the live to your new light.
