3/4" brass garden tap

The outlet is an odd size 7/8" the fittings for hoselock connections are 3/4" or 1/2" BSP. Now the funny thing is 1/2" taps tend to have a 3/4" outlet, so to fit a standard garden hose which is a nominal 1/2" you need a 1/2" tap with either a 1/2" or 3/4" outlet. That will mean bushing the wall connection down to 1/2 (if indeed is is 3/4, very unusual in a domestic house) and fitting a 1/2" tap. If however you need to use 3/4" hose you will have to connect directly to the tap spigot with a screw clamp (jubilee connector) to retain the hose.

Welcome to the wonderful world of plumbing fitting sizes, some measured by external diameter others by internal , metric copper, imperial iron and lord knows what size some of the plastic stuff is! Just don't start me on porcelain sanitaryware!:LOL::LOL:
 
Wot I'd do.......
Get a length of garden hose (maybe 12" or so) and dunk one end in boiling water for a few seconds. The plastic hose will become pliable enough for it to expand around the tap serrated outlet, and keep it there with a Jubilee clip. You can then add a Hozelock fitting of your choice to the free end.
