I am trying to change the old 3 way switch with new ones and followed the old wiring onto the new switch. But the stupid thing won't work now.

Entrance of home are 2 switches, one just a 2 way switch operating outside light; another side by side, a 3 way switch operating 2 lights on bottom of stairs. The 2 way switch has a black wire on one pole, and the other pole has a black & white wire. The 3 way switch has a red wire on the common, and a white wire to one pole and a red wire on the other pole.

Upstairs 3 way switch which suppose to switch the stairs lights on/off also, has a black wire to the common; a white and a red wire to the other poles.

I just followed the old wiring but the darn thing won't work; even the simple 2 way switch which operates the outside light, will not work too.

What's happening?? Pls help
