3 way valve advice please

So I had my 3 way valve replaced about 2 years ago, and now when I put hot water on the heating comes on ( no hot water) heating setting working fine. Having to use immersion heater.
As I’m a ‘female’ I think I’ll get ripped off if I get a plumber in.
How can I tell if the whole thing needs replacing or just the motor?
The switch on the side moves freely (I know it was completely jammed on my last valve)
I live in Manchester (M28) how do I find a ‘reputable’ tradesperson these days please?

We need more information to help you, boiler make and model, existing controls etc, take pics of everything and post them is the best way

Also it's not great to cast all Plumbers as conmen, especially when you are asking for their advice for free.

Hi Andy

you are absolutely spot on, not all tradespeople are conmen. I unfortunately have come across a few over the last couple of years and that saddens me.
I imagine there are many trustworthy people on here and would love a Recommendation for a plumber from here. I just don’t know to find reputable tradespeople online unfortunately

Why do they have to be found online? Do you have any friends who can recommend one? As per @ianmcd, we need some more information, what type of 3 way would be a basic start, not all behave in the same way.

What system do you have? Is it a combi with an internal 3 way valve, or a 3 way valve external to the boiler (Y or W plan)?

Ah yes, missed that . Still be good to know what system. 3 way valve more likely to fail to the HW position, so no CH, rather than vice versa. 2 year life isn't very good.

Depends on cheapness of valve and system.

Get a female plumber in for a comparative quote...or take the head off the 3-port actuator and exercise the shaft to free off the seized valve.
