Helping out with a kitchen install and came to wire the new Bosch induction hob in. There's 5 wires and don't seem to be any instructions available, or they're amongst the piles of rubbish somewhere. The wires are blue, brown, black, grey and earth. Can any experts say what to do with these wires or point to a wiring diagram?

Also we were hoping to wire it into a plug for the single socket on a patress box that is in the right position. Bearing in mind it's now 5 wires, would a fused spur on the single box, etc be better? Or what would be best to connect the 5 wires to the 3 from cooker switch instead of something on a pattress box?

Thanks for any advice for this one.

Look up the model number for the installation manual as a pdf file. It'll be two 'Lives' and two 'Neutrals' for pairs of the induction burners. Pretty sure the hob end will have the wiring marked, too.

My Bosch induction hob uses BN & BK for Live. GY & BU for Neutral. Or would have if I'd not used the existing T+E from the previous hob instead, along with the links in the hob terminals.

Thanks to everyone. I'll get the model when I go back. It's all a bit chaotic at the moment.

Also just to confirm - the idea of using a plug has been abandoned. Would never fit all those wires in a plug anyway. Friend assumed because the oven plugged into a standard socket that the oven would too.

These hobs can be derated via the installation menu ... down to 10 Amps on my Bosch (Neff will be very similar if not identical) simply by pressing a few buttons on the controls... (10/13/16/20 limits are available on mine; and max of course).

I've been given the instructions, can't see a sensible model number on it. Will have to go and look at hob if exact model no needed. However, the wiring diagram all makes sense - brown and black to L, blue and grey to N plus the usual earth.

My question is now we're not using a socket and plug, what is the best way to connect them to the cable coming out of wall behind base unit where hob is? It's a bungalow - the 6mm T&E from CU come down in wall from above to head height where they go into a cooker switch. From the load connections of the cooker switch, a 2.5mm T&E cable runs down inside wall to a standard single socket behind the base unit where hob is. So what should we replace this socket with that will allow connection of the 5 x wires for hob to the 3 x 2.5mm T&E wires from cooker switch? A junction box, fused spur or something else?
