Hello
I have had great ch till the other day when all radiators went cold. Have had a similar problem about 6 months ago but this was cured witha new pump and some cleaner by a plumber. At time of writing my fingers are blue with cold, so please xcuse any spelling mistakes. The boiler fires up but makes loud banging noises and vibrates the pipes, and i believe it is ketteling. water is moving round the system when i turn on the pump but when i alter the temp. it starts to bang. Have bled radiators and water is brown ish, do i need a strong cleaner or a powerflush, and how much should i expect to pay, i have 6 rads in total, any advice would be appreciated.

Have you bled the pump ?

have you bled the flow/return at the boiler ?

boiler make/model ?

Are you sure you have water in the system?

If the pump is really only 6 months old I doubt it is already knackered. More likely to be either no water in the system due to stuck ball valve (vented system) or low water pressure (sealed system) causing the boiler to overheat and pipes to be noisy, or there is so much sludge and scale in the heat exchanger the boiler is overheating and going off on its thermostat or o/heat stat.

Boiler manufacturer and model & system type please!
