'A' Level grades - how about a sensible discussion....

There should an A level in common sense before any other A level is allowed to be taken

Blimey that wold mean a record number of students would fail

Most who work for local councils would be un employed

Blimey this country coukd well end up as the dumbest country in Europe

These students should have to take simplistic life skill tests like how to change a light bulb

What a screw driver is for and how to use one

A gas boiler does not work when there is a power cut

EU students pay the same fees as home students so although they add to the numbers, they aren't a "cash cow"
Non EU students pay a lot more but Covid will put many people off coming.
But as of the end of the year EU students will pay the same as current non EU students...

"Following our decision to leave the EU, EU other EEA and Swiss nationals will no longer be eligible for home fee status, undergraduate, postgraduate and advanced learner financial support from Student Finance England for courses starting in academic year 2021"

Of course this is reciprocal, so UK students won't be able to take advantage of much lower (or free) fees in the EU/EEA

Yes- but that means students from the EU won't come. Most EU students aren't the rich ones like non EU - they are already paying £9k (same as uk students) rather than almost nothing in their home country

Meanwhile, uk students will be paying full price next year to study in the EU

Charging EU students £20-25k a year fees won't attract anyone- or at least won't make up for the shortfalls
Uk universities that run things like business and finance degrees have something like 80% Chinese and far eastern students - that is a huge hole to fill if they don't come

Yes.
EU students pay the same rate as in the host country.
UG courses are £9k in England and free in Scotland.

It's actually £1820 per year for Scottish and EU students, although in most cases that is covered by the Scottish government.

English students pay the same rate as they do in England, despite being in the EU - £9250 per year

So not the same as the 'host country' for English students...

And if an EU student has a parent who resides in England, then again the £9250 figure applies...

Guess who gets the bad deal!

Despite record levels of exam passes year on year, the general standard of literacy is, in my experience, getting worse and worse.

So much so that, despite the fact that well - written comments in our technical reports offer a degree of defence in the event of a claim, we have almost had to engineer them out.
In the main, because the troops can't write a couple of sentences that make any sense......

Who do you think?
