access Dell laptop remotely from nexus 7

looking towards my once a decade holiday I need to access my laptop which will be staying at home with my newly acquired Nexus 7

My plan is to keep my lappy up on on so when I need to I can access it from the pool with the Nexus. i would need to browse old emails, photos pdfs' word doc's etc

Is this remotely feasible and if so how??

Teamviewer, free, but you need to set pc so it does not shut down when not in use.
Can be used with most decent phones as well as tablets.

I have done the above, works quite well.

When setting this up, before you go on holiday go somewhere away from the house and try and access your laptop so you are not using your local wifi.
