Adding hive to a glowworm flex icon sx

Hi,

I’m currently trying to add a hive system to my glowworm flexicom sx. We’ve wired it up, lights are all green, hot water works but heating does not. Does anyone have any ideas? There’s a pre existing room thermostat that we’ve disconnected at the thermostat end but unsure how you disconnect at the boiler end, could that be affecting it?

Reconnect old thermostat and set to max. That should give heating.

Likely some where you need to remove old thermostat cables and fit a bridging wire instead.

Most likely in a wiring centre.

Some times one can work it out using wire colours from motorised valve, pictures of wiring centre may help.

We tried turning it to max before we disconnected it the heating still didn’t work making me think we may have wired the receiver incorrectly.

I don’t mind leaving the wall thermostat attached and on high as I have no intention of removing it from the wall etc

Did the previous thermostat work? Any photos of previous wiring?

Previous receiver/thermostat worked, when we switched them to the hive receiver we kept all the wires to the same places as shown in the images

If you kept all the wires the same, then I’d say, it’s either the existing thermostat, the motorised valve for heating not opening, or a duff Hive. Have you tried putting the 2 switch wires together at thermostat? It’s not removed at boiler end by the look of it, so will be in then wiring center.

Most motorised valves have a lever to open them so the system can be bled.

Open and latch that lever then at least you will get heating when the DHW is being heated.

There are three common types of heating systems called plans the S plan the Y plan and the C plan.
The S plan has 2 or more motorised valves all two port.
The Y plan has 1 motorised valve 3 port.
The C plan can have no motorised valves, however some times you do get one motorised valve to allow the DHW to be cooler than the CH water, the instructions for hive only covers the C plan with no motorised valve and no tank thermostat.

Hive have two models, single channel and duel channel both fit same back plate but wiring is different. You should be using the duel model.

Basic theory is programmer/thermostat works the motorised valve, then the valve works the boiler, so a fault on the motorised valve will stop boiler working, as well as being a valve they are also a relay.

I have just looked for you boiler

this shows a 24 volt control system and Hive twin channel does not have volt free contacts so can't work with 24 volt.

Seems there are options but since also has OpenTherm Hive is not really a suitable thermostat. The instructions I found here seems to show only possible to use a thermostat with either volt free contacts or opentherm. Hive single channel does have volt free contracts, but terminals 1 and 3 would be used, and you show 3 and 4 used.

Maybe I have wrong boiler, but only you can say if I have or not.
