Know little about alarms but trying to help my sister get another year or two out of hers - it was installed in 1994. No problems with it except cats had been setting it off and therefore they haven't used it for a year or two. Realised we could fit new Pet PIRs and therefore decided to give it a try.

However we decided to fit a Spur as there wasn't one. Killed mains but outdoor siren went off and then noticed the panel battery was dead.
Fitted new battery and Spur without problem but then realised keypad was dead and lights had changed to Tamper and Zone 2. We had it in Engineer Mode and unsure whether lights changed before or during fitting of battery and Spur.
Put cover back on but sirens then sounded for about a minute (could not stop it as keypad was dead).

Now unsure how to clear fault.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Keith

look under keypad there is a large resistor, is it burnt ? was this the first battery since 1994 ? if so that may be your problem, these panels never go wrong as long as the battery is replaced every 5 years. also make sure all tampers are clear as the keypad will be dead untill they are all clear.

Can't check resistor at the moment.
Was original battery.
How do I clear tampers?
Thanks

worst case to prove a point is link out tamper and bell tamper return and make sure the lid is on correct.see if it clears now you may have to press reset.
