I have space under the stairs to make a v small walk in wardrobe. I've bought sheets of 8'x4' oak veneered 9mm ply to line the walls. How best to attach to previously painted skimmed walls? Some people recommend screwing batons to the wall and nailing the ply to the batons. It'll lose me 1" and sounds like a lot of effort to me. I'd like to slop PVA to the ply and push against the wall, or even use wallpaper paste. The ply lining will not be load bearing. Any advice appreciate.

A colleague just suggested making the lining as a giant box, sliding it into the space, sealing in with expanding filler, then building the partition over the top. I've just bought a load of no more nails online. I think I'll use it to make the box, and then put beads on the outside before I slide the box into the space.
