ADT Honeywell CP038 Grade 3 Class 2

I really hope someone can help. Some years ago I bought the above from ADT on a monitored contract, but due to financial issues, I cancelled the contract after s couple of years or so and have not touched the alarm since then. It's not been armed or anything since then.

Yesterday evening it started beeping and then this evening it had gone off, twice. The user code nor the fob will switch it off, it just keeps going for about 20 minutes and then stops. The display just has a row of acterixs on it which are flashing on and off. We don't have an outside siren, just the inside one.

I've called ADT for some advice, which was that they could send out an engineer, but I've heard terrible things about how much they charge, so I've booked a free, no obligation call for Thursday for them to quote setting it back up as a monitored system in the hope it'll then be sorted out. But if it keeps going off my 13 year old daughter will probably move out!!!

The internal backup battery probably needs replaced. You need to get someone competent to open the control panel (metal enclosure in a cupboard with Honeywell label on it), disconnect the battery and power cycle mains. You should then be able to enter the master code to silence the system.
