We have a Worcester boiler that is being replaced as we need a larger one to cope with an extension we are doing. We've been recommended to have a 36 plus capacity. Is there anybody that can give me advice on the best combis out there?

Why do you think that it needs replacing?

Are you quite sure that you are not the victim of a builder who just wants to do more work?

So what is the heat loss calculation result for your house?

thank you for your response. Fair comment, but I've been told that it is unlikely that the existing boiler will cope with the extra workload and it needs to be moved any way. The boiler has already had repairs. Sorry, not sure about the heat loss value.

How many bathrooms?
Showers?

The best combis with a good flow rate tend to be ATAGs and the Intergas Rapid 30kW is quite good. Those tend to be the boilers many here consider the best.

We need more information about the property.

Be cautious of builders plumbers and their advice.

It tends to be as ill informed as John Harrison's drivel.

If your house is that big I'd be cautious about having a combi - you'd be better off with a regular boiler and a hot water cylinder.

The Intergas Rapid is similar but cheaper. It depends on the hot water requirements. How many people as well. If all three showers are being used simultaneously then it is different than if only one is used at a time because few people are in the place, etc.

If you must have a combi this is the one to go for. Personally if you have decent mains water flow and pressure I'd be looking at an unvented cylinder and system boiler.
If you go for a smallish UV cylinder wired with hot water priority you can have a very economical setup with a small footprint and oodles of water (y)
