Advice on Primer

Hi,

I have had all the skirtings replaced with primed MDF. After sanding there are some areas where this is back to the wood so will need primed again.

There are also new timber door frames with knots that will need covered.

Is there a primer that will do both - maybe Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 or B-I-N shellac based primer?

I will be using a water based paint on top if that makes a difference.

And advice will be greatly appreciated.

Why not just touch in all the knots with knotting solution, and then prime bare timber with acrylic primer/undercoat and then apply your water based paints.
