I'm so glad that I've found this site & I've looked through some of the previous threads, so I'm praying for your honest views:

We've had installed in previous homes glowworm boilers, never had any issues and we've moved into a new house and the boiler needs to be upgraded.
Wanted to put in the Glowworm Ultracom 2 - 35 Cxi but plumber wants to put in viessmann 200 35 - can't really afford the viessmann....
house is detached, 4 bed - current boiler is heating the water tank.
Question is which one should we go for? should we go without christmas presents for the viessmann??
much appreciated and thank you in advance;)

Of the two I'd pick Viessmann every time, but out of choice I'd fit an Intergas Combi Compact HRE 36-30.

Glow-Worm are Vaillant but made more cheaply (same company), there's not much comparison between GW and a 200-series Viessmann, Vaillant are much closer in terms of quality.

I do have to question why you're considering a combi in a 4-bed house though, unless you only have one bathroom and no en-suites, generally any combi is going to be undersized for that size of house.

I forsee a seriously wrong specification.

Its beyond me why so many installers just want to convert everything to a combi.

You are far better off with a heat only boiler of a suitable size for the house which would be 18 kW or 24 kW.

In my view its worth paying a little more for a Viessmann but ONLY if you are going to use the weather compensation!
