advice reffiting lockshield valve

just had rad off wall to do a bit of plastering, just wondering about remaking the joint on the lockshield valve , will it seal by just compression or will i need to put a bit of jointing compound to remake the joint, it is one simaler to this

If you don't have any compound, it's worth trying without it. You'll soon know! I always use something though, it doesn't do any harm.
