I have a Worcester 240 boiler and I would like to move it from one room to another (about 3 metres). What should I know about wanting to do this? I'm looking to do this so that I can rent the room that has the boiler in it.

Your installer will be able to tell you.

But chances are it is not economically viable and changing it would be better.

There is no legal requirement to move the boiler from the rented room as long as you get your annual landlords inspection carried out each year.

If you want to control the heating get a wireless programmable room thermostat fitted to take control away from the boiler panel.

Hi, are you sure you allowed to sleep in the same room as where the boiler is situated? I thought this was super illegal?

As as the boiler is room sealed; then it is fine as long as it passes its annual inspection.

The 240 did have an open flued variant so double check. But I think they were fairly rare.

Ok well that sorts a good few problems out. Also can I ask, how do I check the boiler has a open flue?

Post a picture of the top. Or the flue terminal.

Ort.. if you have the manual...

The open flued boiler had a GC number of 47-311-09 and the room sealed 47-311-12.

The later's full name is

240 Combi RSF

The former, 240 Combi OF.

It is generally better to build a cupboard round any boiler in a bedroom to reduce the noise it produces.

Any enclosure has to give adequate clearance as laid down in the boiler manual.
