Have just purchased above m/c, due for delivery next week. I understand from the retailer that the cold water feed needs to have a vertical connection due to the overfill protection device supplied with machine. My existing inlet is currently horizontal and close to mains sockets (Under worktop). Placing the overfill valve in horizontal position, if facing upwards, will obstruct sockets.
I looked for the owners manual on the AEG home page, but it is currently unavailable.
Now for the question. Does the overfill device project up or down from the cold water inlet? If the answer is the latter, I am a very happy bloke, one compression elbow and my problem is fixed. :D If it faces upwards, I've got some work to do!

Cannot guarantee it, but I would have thought that the device would work on back presure in the feed pipe & a floating seal, so would need to have the supply pointing downwards as you hope.I have to say I have never seen one, but it seems to be a stupid restriction of use/instalation.
