Air Bricks to help condensation / prevent dry rot

OK, more air bricks under floor level would not be a bad idea. But be aware, the purpose of under floor ventilation is to ensure the suspended timber floor does not get damp and rot and that is a separate issue to a condensation problem indoors. Their addition will have little to no impact upon condensation caused on windows. Hot air rises and the vents are under the ground floor.

I would be going for trickle vents in windows and/or opening them more often and a better vent in the bathroom. Opening a window wide in the kitchen when cooking/ironing etc will do far more than any extractor though having a good extractor in the kitchen will help.

A good extractor hood to the outside for the kitchen and the same for the bathroom with "run on" as required by Building Regs. Apart from drying clothes this is where most of you moisture is coming from.

I have also found that a drimaster system fitted in the ceiling at the top of the stairs can help significantly http://www.nuaire.co.uk/catalogue/DecentHomes.pdf

once you have got a bathroom extractor, at least you can hang the clothes in there with the fan running and the door and window closed.

the bathroom might get damp but the air current will prevent moisture diffusing through the house. It will suck air in through the gap under the door.

A typical modern tumble drier uses about 60p worth of electricity to dry a full cotton load, and correspondingly less for smaller or synthetic loads holding less water. The cost will probably be less than all the building work you had in mind.

Depending on wind direction, an open window might help steam to blow out, or it might blow it into the house.
