Airbricks sealed by cavity wall insulation guys.

Hey.

Recently had my wall cavities insulated. Guys did a great job and the house is really warm.

Yesterday, I noticed that they'd filled in the airbrick that sits halfway up the wall with silicone or similar. Just wondering if this was normal?

Would the blown insulation negate the cross ventilation from the airbrick thus making it redundant?

I checked the other airbricks at under-suspended floor level and they're all clear.

Now i'm no expert but..surely an airbrick is there for a reason?

Is the airbrick leading into the room in which your central heating boiler is situated or where you have an open fire (gas, coal etc)?

No. It passes throught the outer brick skin but not the inner.

Do you need cross ventilation in brick wall cavities?

Siliconed up to prevent the insulation blowing out of the vent.
Best to open it up and put a vent tunnel sleeve available from screwfix to keep your flooring vented
