Analogue or digital ?

Thank you yet again @Harry Bloomfield, you have been incredibly helpful and it has been really appreciated.

When you move to fibre, the old copper router, might still have some use to you - an old router can be repurposed as an extension for a wired LAN.

There is a referral to YouFibre here - https://aklam.io/9lBLGzKT
It would get both of us, at least £25 off our bills, if you use it.

Like most ISP's these days, they don't offer or include an email service, but there are plenty of free services available to use, such as Googlemail, and Outlook.

Good helpful post there @Harry Bloomfield. Thank you. I will try and remember it.

Forget one that uses AA cells, get one that has it'sown rechargeable batteries in that get charged from it's stand.

Because you just know, it will have flat batteries the exact time you need to use it in an emergency.

Thank you @mattylad. The 3 handset system that we have at the moment has Duracell re-chargeable batteries in each handset and so long as the handsets are left in their stand they are charged fully. The problem is that the charge doesn't last very long and they are nearly new batteries.
