Insurance - don't mention that word! My home insurance covers only damage caused by the leak and not trace and fix. So my floor is not covered, nor is the plumbing costs. Oh, and there's a massive excess too. So pointless insurance!

Damage caused only is how most house insurance works.
Tip for anyone who has the misfortune to have a major claim.
Get a insurance loss assessor (totally different from loss adjuster)
They will run claim for you ,there cost us paid by your insurance company.
Have seen very successful outcomes done like this.

I use Wednesbury pipe from screwfix, hope its ok

Good brand. Does it say Wednesbury? It's just that I bought from screwfix wanting Wednesbury but it was indented with the name Black something? Can't remember exactly.
