probs,
1.loud banging
2.vent pipe in loft sending back red hot water
3.upstairs rads hot(4) downstairs cold
4.pump and pipes are red hot
5.probs seem worse when boiler stat on high so using on low at mo

any advice welcome

thanks daden, Will try this,do you think it wil be solely the pump or combination of things ie stat or something?

Would check boiler stat is working correctly on high setting. Even if pump was not running boiler should still shut off at set temp rather than overheat into exp tank.

Also check for blockage in cold feed. Find a drain point and attach a hose to drain off. Whilst draining check water level in exp tank is dropping and tank re-filling via ball valve.
