Ariston A1400wd - cutting out

Machine cutting out when switch it on...sounds like shorting out and led's flicker randomly then eventually go off. When try to power back on, led's flicker briefly, sounds like shorting out again then off.

Read an older post on here suggesting disconnect the heating element (taped up ends) and switching back on. So did this, switched the power back on and was able to start the machine...it went for a second or two then same problem but sparking coming from the little black unit where the main power supply comes in.

Apart from being thick and DIY'ily challenged....what's my problem please?

Remove the lid check mains surpresser in the corner. Easy to change cost about 15 .00

I presume the mains suppresser is the little box where the mains feed goes directly into?

I'm guessing there's not much to check, just replace and hope that's the problem?

Yes , but look at the top of it for burn marks.

Yep...very slight browning on the underside of the top in that area.

Check the 3 wires are they burnt and the White plug that goes to it.

Carnage! White plug wrecked, was melted into the suppressor...awkard git to take out when melted together.

The brown wire has burnt out. Will need a new plastic plug too!

The White plug is part of the wiring harness , just cut the wires back and butt connect them on the mains block. You can buy the crimps from motor factors.

Easy enough to do.

Any idea what may have caused this? Or just simply that the suppressor part failed?

Surpressor failed very common, overheated that's all.
