ariston micro genius has no hot water but loads of c/h

Hi all

first time i have ever used this forum but i am in a bit of a pickle.

my ariston microgenius gives me plentiful supplies of central heating but not a stitch of hot water.

every time i put the hot tap on the boiler temperature lights go from bottom to top very quickly then the boiler just turns off the pilot light. sounds like a plane dropping from the sky also.

once in a blue moon i will get a bit of hot water but only when it feels like it.
the boiler is 2 1/2 years old and i honestly can say i have not got the cash for a replacement at the moment. am i looking at trillions of pounds here?
please help.

Sounds like the DHW heat exchanger might be blocked with sludge. If you're thinking of tackling this yourself, you'll need to get hold of the manual (download from MTS/Ariston site?) and study it till you understand fairly well how the boiler works and how easily or otherwise the DHW h/e might be checked or changed.
