i have run some armoured cable 3 core to my shed from the fusebox and have a second hand fusebox at the shed end. i have a joint in the middle which is in a plastic outside juntion box (about 1 foot sq) i will be connecting some outside lights to it later.

my question is how do you connect the gland rings together that earth the protective wire and do i connect the rings to the eath circuit at the meter ends.

i have the wires wired up ok. i.e. live/neutral/earth.

do i use a spare bit of earth wire?.

Yup, a piece of single earth core (as used for bonding and conduit wiring), of the size of the SWA cores or larger

do i connect to earth at meter?.
thanks
No, the earth bar in the board you are connecting to

I hope you know what you are doing?! are you planning on using the armor as the only earth, or is there a core to compliment it? if the former then I seriously hope you are checking that your Zs stay in spec (of course you should be doing this anyway, just that using the armour means the Zs are higher than if you use a core)

thanks
yes i have used a seperate earth that is in the cable.

sorry i meant the fusebox connection not the meter.

have used a tester on the cable and all is well and used a rcd breaker and that works ok too.

thanks again

How did you test the RCD?

You pressed the test button and it worked but did you do anything else?

You say you plan to join some outside lights to the box in the future, i hope you mean your going to run another feed from the fuseboard and use the same box as a connection point. You cannot just take your power from the joint box without fusing it down.
