Yes, this was one of the evil mastermind Blair's evil schemes. Increase all the doctors' wages to make them faithful left wing Labour voters, and invent a load of fake illnesses and syndromes as a reason to give out limitless sickness benefits to create more dependent Labour voters.

Don't let facts get in the way of your rant.

One of the things that labour did do was invest in the NHS - it made a real difference to waiting times, health outcomes etc. I disagree with how hospitals were funded.

As to GPs - the GP budget is about 8-9% of the NHS but accounts for about 80-90% of the patient contact time - its cheaper for the NHS to deal with patients in GP surgeries than hospitals.

So GP are contracted for 4 days but they spend another day doing paperwork - if the job was as lucrative and well paid then why is there a shortage of GPs? The problem is over time the contract has clawed back a lot of the gains that were used to get more people into becoming GPs and now the Government thinks it can cut its way to prosperity.

It's a false economy as now people are clogging up A&E which is way more expensive per patient interaction than being dealt with in a GP surgery. Factor in the idiotic 2012 Health reforms and push for privatisation you get a perfect storm where GPs are being encouraged to group together into larger practices thus leaving the rural area without a GP service.

But when you have idiots who have no clue how anything works they believe the crap on DM, FB etc.

Be afraid if you think the privatised health service in the US is something to aspire to. That's how you get people to vote against their self interest.
