I have a power shower upstairs that is fed directly from the hot water tank, recently I have had an electric shower (Aqualisa 10.5kw) installed downstairs which is fed from the mains - the whole idea was that two people could have showers at the same time, however, if you're in the downstairs shower and the upstairs shower is being used, or the dishwasher is on or a toilet is flushed, the downstairs shower goes cold hence no-one wants to use it - is there a solution to improve this e.g. a pump?

Any advice received would be very much appreciated.

Well think about it, the electric shower is mains fed, so your dishwasher will be as will your toilet, so if someone uses any of these or opens a cold water tap thats mains fed then the supply to your shower will drop causing the shower's temperature to change.

If the upstairs shower is tank fed then you can use both showers at the same time without any problems, but if other appliances are going to be used while using an electric shower you should look at having a tank fed mixer shower installed instead.

not true as when ball valve in cws tank drops it will effectively 'turn on another tap'.

Nothing that simple, sadly.

It's likely that your incoming mains supply rate is inadequate.

Firstly check that all stop cocks and other valves (on the main) are fully open.

If they already are, then your choices are:

1. Find the cause of the poor rate - sometimes the only way of doing this is to upgrade the supply pipe and, sometimes, the supplier's communication pipe;

or:

2. Install a break tank and either:
2a. Change the electric shower to one that includes a pump;
or
2b. Pump the supply from the break tank to the electric shower.

Before you make any decisions or plans, measure the flow rate at your kitchen tap with all other outlets closed (including the cold storage cistern float valve).
