backer board finishing

hi all
i have backer board fixed with the screws provided but before i tile can i fill the gaps with glass fibre tape and a filler or plaster,or do i have to use a flexible tile adhesive and the tape. i am going to tank the shower area before i am going to tile.

yes.

if your using a tanking membrane you will apply this with a flexy addy anyway.
or using bal wp1..cant remember but think they advise you skimm wall with a flexy adhesive proir to appliying this also.
