We have for our sins 20 wood sash windows fitted by the previous owner in 2000...
They have two sets of thick glazing bars, and sash springs, and on the exterior view are flush with the wall..... and annoy the hell out if me.
The main problems since we moved in in 2007 was impossible to move windows which was compounded by no window furniture at all. Now added but even so you need to be a strong guy to move them.
Second and worse problem is almost guaranteed every year to have 4/5 have some degree of wood rot, either right at the top (guessing poor caulking between wood and bricks) or at the bottom just above sills. Each window has a bad finish around them e.g. a 3-5mm gap that at times I have tried to fill with silicon sealant but clearly water keeps getting behind.
What options do I have?
Is there a (good looking) strip/ material I can acquire and fit around the external frame ?
Also I did once try wax to help with windows and movement but late I think I need to see if wrong springs fitted.... perhaps need assisted lift instead of the ones in situ
Many many thanks in advance for allnsuggestions.
