upstairs right outside the hotpress the floor is squeeking badly.

when you put your foot in a certain area (12" by 6" area) , the floor moves .

After lifting up the board, their appeared to be a leak a long time ago, and the previous people got it fixed, my dad thinks by putting down plywood along the hallway up stairs should spread the weight and also stop/quieten the noise)

I cant remove the joist (its the one thats moving) because its runs length of the hallway under 3 doors

Whats the best option to sort it out?
Would it be best to put weight on the joist, then pack it with wood ?

thanks in advance

How/why is the joist moving?
Is it rotten from the leak?
Can you remove boards and bolt a new length of joist alongside it to good wood?
Can you drive wedges in at the ends?
I'm at a loss without more info. ;)

Yes sorry it looks like its rotten from the leak.

Speaking to my dad, he has suggested putting a length of joist beside it and make it a new joist (somehow)

i had a look at it ages ago, if i remember rightly its going to be difficult because of the pipes.

shall go and take a few pics of the joists and upload them.

thanks any way for your input.
