Is there a standard spacing for ballusters on a landing or handrail?

The ones fitted at moment have a big enough gap for a 2 year olds head to fit through  so when I replace it want it to be safe and standard.

Thanks in advance.

the regs state a sphere 4" [100mm] wide must not pass through any gaps on the stairs treads or banisters so aiming for 90 to 95mm gaps will allow for small bends twists and deviations

thanks for that big-all,

they will be stop chamfer spindles so they are paralell all the way up :)

Just measured they are currently between 140 and 150

they can still move with age so best leave a bit off a margin :D
