I’m not a great gardener, consequently have had the front lawn replaced with “ the plastic”.

The area is surrounded with established shrubs and leylandi and the only ground plants that flourish under them are holly and ivy. I’m quite happy with this but would like to provide a bare strip, say about 6”, between the ivy and the edge of the lawn to keep it tidy. Am wondering if salty sand otl. would be a solution?

Any other ideas most welcome.

How about bedding in a border of paving blocks/bricks?
Put a layer of weed control under the bricks to prevent weeds trying to come up along the edges.
