Hi All

I am looking to build a barn 10 metre x 6 metre with box profile sheeting (best place to buy profile sheeting?) and thinking of making the frame out of wood is this a good idea? it will have a flat roof with a small run for water. What is the best way to make a roof truss. Is there any software out there to help me plan and build it, any info will be helpful.

I am at the planning stage for a loft conversion and have found the following useful:

1) Library Book - Roof Construction & Loft Conversion, C N Mindham, ISBN 0-632-03595-1
2) DIY'ers documentary http://www.internode.co.uk/loft/index.htm. This also suggests software SuperBeam (http://www.sda.co.uk/sbw.htm)

A few thoughts:
1) Mindham suggests getting trusses as design & supply. Given 6m is quite a span then DIY design & calc may not be best way fwd
2) Wood frame would be quick & cheep and suit the low vertical loads. Wind loading and design to avoid DAMP at ground level would be concerns. As i can bricky i would go for cheep blockwork which would need a better foundation.

Is there nothing proprietary to buy as a kit? It would save a lot of heart ach.
