Based on the photo, should I install and ACO or French drain?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to figure out the best way to move water from the area directly in front of my new extension. Water has a natural tendancy to form here as the area is shaded a lot of the day and the level of the garden is lowest here (it's not a massive slope though) and I want more clearance below the air bricks.

With the air bricks building control seem fine where they are, they were more concerned with the DPC level which has been addressed.

I was initially going to install and ACO drain that fed into soakaway via a silt trap but I'm wondering if a french drain is better in that it will absorb excess water from the surrounding soil too and not just what falls into the ACO.

The water in the image below disappeared in about 4 hours despite all the recent rain but I want to keep it away from this side of the build where possible. The other sides are either sheltered or will have a patio that has it's own drainage

Thanks in advance!

You would not want a French drain draining close to any foundations.

The drainage solution would depend on which way any paving is sloping, and mainly whether you actually like the look of surface drain channels or a row of gravel.
