Going to convert my basement into a play room for my young kids. My house a 1930s bungalow in Glasow is on a slope and access is from outside only via the old coal store?
It was already partially converted years ago with a concrete floor which is still dry and has a DPM through it. Electrics and lighting are all there also.
Have had a basic humidity meter in there all summer and it seems to be at 70-80% which indicates dampness.
Looked at so many websites etc to find out the best way to insulate/studwall/vapour barrier etc but because it seems mostly US sites I don't really know what would suit scottish weather?
Should I stud the walls which are bare brick put in kingspan/rock wool with vapour barrier then dry wall? Because of the dampness issue I'm worried that I'll get mould long term from dampness egress from other parts of the underfloor area?
Is this a waste of time going to all that effort if I can never stop damp getting in?
