Can anyone recommend a particular type of bracket / 'towel rail' for this bathroom sink? I've looked online to see that a lot of brackets have a little protruding stud (eg Thomas Dudley) but I'm not sure that's the best idea here? It's quite a big basin, around 400 mm deep, 505 mm wide. Is this basin designed for the traditional cast iron brackets?

My other option is getting an IKEA under sink cabinet to support the basin, but that will require some modifying to get it to fit.

Your challenge is getting a bracket that fits the holes at the front. The Dudley may or may not fit, you could buy online and return though. The holes at the back seem to be for fixing through the wall which will help but not suffice.

Blup

All other similar basins I've seen use the holes at the back for fixings into the wall and then additionally have brackets supporting at the sides underneath flat areas of the basin. I'm unclear on why this basin has both that large, rectangular indentation as well as the adjacent small hole at the front.

The large hole is for the lug on the towel rail bracket. The small hole is just part of the casting of the basin

Just an update: The brackets I bought happened to fit my basin fine.

I thought siliconing the part where the basin rests on the bracket would help stop things moving around, is that the go-to way of installing these?
