Hi All.

I am installing a new bathroom at the weekend but have a problem that I was hoping to solve while doing so.

I have a 15mm hot water pipe coming out of the boiler into the bathroom. Firstly, there is a 15mm branch off to the bathroom sink. Secondly, there is a 22mm branch off to the bath. Lastly, it heads off down the stair to the kitchen sink.

When I turn on the hot water bath sink tap, the water is roasting and flowing at a good rate. When I turn on the kitchen sink hot water tap down the stairs the water is roasting and flowing at a good rate. However, the problem I have is that when I turn on the bath hot water tap, the water is lukewarm and not flowing at the rate the other two are!!!

Any ideas??

You probably have gravity fed hot water (perhaps 3 metres head) and the tap is designed for higher pressure (say 1bar, = 10 metres).

Or the tap or pipe is full of scale/rust.

Thanks mate, it is gravity fed. There probably is a chance that the tap has some rust as it is old but my gut feeling now is your initial suggestion. Cheers.
