Hi,

Just about to start a bathroom refit and was wondering what is the best place to locate an extractor fan. Currently there is an extractor fan fitted at just over head hight in the shower cubicle which extracts directly to the outside wall thru a vent. I am wondering what sort of benefit I would get from replacing it with an overhead fan that is placed directly above the shower in the ceiling and extacts the air up into the loft and out thru a soffit vent .

thanks in advance for any comments

I`m pretty sure a 240 volt fan above shower isnt allowed. Ok if low voltage with transformer elsewhere (attic or airing cupbd.) Ceiling mount same unless you use the ducted type and again fan motor in attic.

Don't think your choice is designed for the purpose you state, inline fan is more suitable, little to be gained by moving it to ceiling. Most fans are 240 volt, those designed for bathroom use are safe.If mounting in ceiling bear in mind if not sited correctly moisture will condense in pipework and run back down to drip on your head. ;)
Checked the fitting instructions and the one pictured does not appear to be the model listed, lovely B&Q .
