Bathroom / kitchen paint

Can I use 'normal' emulsion paint on a bathroom or kitchen wall prior to painting with a special "bathroom/kitchen' paint.
The walls are currently dark so I was wanting to use the white as a initial layer.

Its always a good idea to put a blinding coat of white prior to any other colour paint, especially if the original colour is dark

Should be fine, don't use on the low latex paints such as Super Matt
