Hello all,
A colleague of mine went to a boiler breakdown on Friday and diagnosed through the fault finding chart (lockout LED flashing 5 times a second) that the flow switch needed replacing.
Having replaced the flow switch, the boiler fired up, job done.
He got a call from the customer that eve to say it had cut out again, he went back and found that, and I quote:
"When there is a demand for heat/hot water the fan started and stayed on but there was no spark just a fairly loud clicking the same rate and sound as a car indicator. If left the boiler just stayed clicking in this state"
The green LED was on as it should be as was the amber boiler on light. The red lockout light was not illuminated.
The fault finding chart does not list this scenario so he called Baxi and was told that if the red lockout light is not on then they cant help him, end of!!!!
He left without being able to repair it and said he would return Monday. The customer has subsequently said she doesn't want the same engineer back so I am due to go there in the morning.
Looking at the information I would say the gas valve is faulty?? If this is the case, why is it not listed in the fault finding and why does the boiler not go to lockout state?
Thanks for any help in advance.
