Hello guys,

My baxi is driving me nuts.

Yesterday after work I had turned the hot water tap on downstairs and guess what no hot water. After checking the boiler I find that only the green light for the water is coming on when turning the tap on and no other lights. No failure lights no nothing. Im sure I can hear the fan and another noise kicking in. This is the same for the central heating aswell. After opening her up and checking connections for around 2 hours the hot water was working on demand aswell as central heating. This morning however it was back to normal with no h/w or c/h.

I have attached a picture of the front panel. Sorry for the poor pic.

Any advice or guidance would be really appreciated :)

The HW light appears to be on according to the panel lights. If it goes no further then there are several possibilities as to why it fails to heat. Does the CH work? I would suggest a good boiler repairman would be able to diagnose this quite easily, but you need to be in front of boiler to take readings etc. With respect, don't open the combustion chamber and fiddle.

Thanks for the reply's guys.

I havent opened the combustion chamber- only the front panel where the diverter valve etc is. The C/H light comes on when requested but is exactly the same as the hot water where the light continues to show but no other lights.

Although its making noises, that is no indication that all is well with pump and fan and other components. Get it checked out by a pro.

I really appreciate your advice guys but you are telling me things I already know.

Suggesting a pro is most probably the most obvious way to do things. If this is the option I was going to take I wouldnt be on a DIY (Do It Yourself) forum requesting help.

I also understand suggesting pro's from pro's posting keeps everyone in business if you know what I mean.

Its nothing to do with pro,s keeping other pro,s in business,if that was the case nobody would post on here, the fault with your boiler is on one of the safety devices , no one is going to help you in case you balls it up, as already suggested get an rgi to fix your boiler.

 thanks - must admit I think im going to register my business on here in the car section. Good way to find business ;)

Have you checked the boiler's pressure gauge? I can't remember what these do if it's low.

Finally someone with some advice :)

Thanks ChrisR - I have checked the boilers pressure gauge and it reads 1.5 bar which I believe is normal?

Spoke to a nice chappy at Baxi and he has said its the PCB.

If there could be several reasons why it doesnt work he said that the panel would show error lights which it doesnt.

Fingers crossed, ordered new PCB.

But you have been given advice but failed to listen to it, surely a gas safe engineer would find the fault and fix it.
You are taking a gamble that it is the pcb, if i had a pound when the manufactures said it was a pcb fault. i be a rich man

Ha! the kind of customers that you find on here are the kind of customer that you really don't want...... You know the kind who startd his sentence, "I read on the internet that it could be......"
