Any advice appreciated...

You have a leak.

Couldn't get advice like that anywhere else I tell you

Most I would do if I were you would be: isolate electrics to blr, pop front cover off (two screws at front and lift white panel up and off) and have a quick gander at the hydraulics.
If no signs of leak clean up underneath put some frosh clean paper down and see if you can identify from what area of the boiler yourleak is coming from.

Knowing the boiler if it's the instant which has some preheated hot water you need a gas fitter with courage. If it isn't instant it is a very simple fault and you need a gas fitter who is used to doing rpairs.

If you don';t find Gas fitter A or gasfitter b you will be sold a new boiler.
