could anyone tell me if it is possible to disconect my back boiler and still use the fire. The reason i ask is that im going to have the boiler replaced with a condensing boiler in the loft and would quite like to keep the fire. The two are joined together and i wondered if there would be any safety regulations i would be breaking.

I don't know the answer to your question, but are you aware that Baxi now make a condensing boiler as a back boiler. It sould be an easier installation without having to re-route the pipework.

Yes you can, as long as it is decommissioned properly. This will be done by the RGI who installs your new boiler.

Remember to get the fire serviced regularly tho

That is utter BO$$ox!!

Many people with a GF/BBU never use the fire

Yes you can use the fire with the BBU decommissioned properly, but you can't use a BBU without the firefront attached.

Thankyou all for your help. looks like i may be ok to keep my fire then. this will safe me some money and hassle. :D

Try getting baxi or gas safe to put it in writing though
