Hi all,

I have a boiler as above that hasn't been used for a good some time (in armed forces lived away for a while)

Tried to get boiler working so that we can have the rads etc working.

checked that gas is being supplied (it is)

tried to light pilot last weekend, didnt light at all.

thought would try this weekend and lit first time.

all well and good i thought.

tried to light the ancient fire we have in the front room (didnt light)

thought by turning the service tap might help.

I can hear you all laughing now

no all i succeded in doing is turn off the supply i think

now tried turning service tap back on ( i think im turning it on nothing that says "on" on it.

cant light pilot now

tried everything i can think of. turning grey switch waiting 3 mins.

any ideas. ive read about faulty thermocouples and blocked pilot valves

is there anything i could do self help before i call a corgi engineer.

many thanks in advance

What service tap do you mean? The 3 way one under the fire front and in front of the BBU?

Could be you turned it the wrong way and shut off gas to boiler and fire front.

if it has been off for a while you should get an RGI in to check it. they are open flued and many will spill fumes, quite possibly with high CO into the room. As sure a way to die as eating a m16
