Hi,
Have recently bought a house and its got this back boiler (Baxi Bermuda Inset 3 50/3) anyway ive been having a few problems with it and i just want to know if there is any way of finding out what the problem is before i pay yet another person to come out.

The Problem: When the timer comes on to request HW or CH (or both) the ligth on the front of the boiler goes amber then immediately red without even attempting to light. The L.E.D remains red and the boiler remains dormant. Also the Fireplace (not sure what type but i assume it is related to the boiler problem) does not respond at all, its electrical and has 3 buttons on the left hand side (top one to light the fire, second one turns the flame higher and the botton button turns on the backlight) none of which respond, could this be a blown fuse? if so is there anyway to replace this myself or does it require a specialist gas fitter/engineer?

Hope to hear back from someone soon,

Chris

After looking around on the site at other problems with these/similar units there was a lot of mention about LED's flashing to indicate a certain problem, however i cannot directly see any led apart from the one on the front of the unit, but when i look inside the case it does appear that there is an amber light that blinks 3 times then goes off.

Sorry to say that your problem needs to be sorted by a Gas Safe person.

Any idea on what might be wrong? If its possibly something drastic then might just bite the bullet and get a whole new system fitted instead of burning money trying to fix it.

you check it lit by seeing if meter dials move
but other than that u need to call some one out

The Pilot light isnt even lighting, hence no gas is being used. could this be down to an electrical problem meby with the programer since it seems that no power is being routed to the fireplace itself (no lights comming on)? it seems to be working and the connections are live from the programer but i dont want to go fiddling around at the front of the fire.

manufacturers instructions are available form baxi partsarena which will be useful to you just sothat you know what the led's are displaying.
The fireplace very often runs off a seperate electrical supply, or it may be that the fire jack plug has become disconnected.
