I have recently moved into a house that has a Baxi Combi boiler 105e. When we moved in the pressure on the system was at max and a plumber replaced the valve and this is now sorted. However, we now get intermittent hot water (goes hot for about a minute, then cold, then hot - very regular). The plumber said that there was a lot of limescale in the system (partly due to the high pressure it had been under). Does the system just need a clean or something more?

Thanks

The plate heat exchanger is blocked with sludge rather than lime.

Not only does the HE need cleaning but the whole system will have to be cleaned to stop it gettin g blocked again. That would often be by power flushing.
